Young teens are giving the beauty sector a much needed boost. This is especially welcomed news to the industry, since other age brackets (older teens and adults) are using less and less makeup. “Beauty products” include mascara, eye-liner, lipstick, as well as facial cleanser and toner.
“Overall, tweens reported to use on average 4.5 different beauty products regularly,” according to the NPD Group report. In addition to the increase in usage, tweens are also being introduced to makeup and cosmetics from a different source: their families. Karen Grant, the VP of NPD, said tween girls “look to their parents and siblings to see what they are using to help decide what to buy and use.”
