A Definitive Ranking of the Most Popular Movie Aliens

Things are about to get spacey because today, July 2, is World UFO Day. No unidentified flying object would be complete without an elusive group of aliens driving the ship.

There is so much we don't know about intergalactic intelligent life, which is why we have so many films about them. In celebration of this holiday, we've gathered our definitive ranking of the most popular aliens from iconic films like Lilo & StitchAlien and more.

7. Superman (Superman)

Clark Kent isn't your normal guy. He wasn't a human who adopted the superhero alias of Superman. He was actually delivered to Earth from Krypton as Kal-El. Unfortunately, Superman leans on the boring side of characters for us. He's almost too perfect, compared to other more complex superheroes and aliens.

6. Xenomorph (Alien)

If an alien invasion ever happens, they probably won't come in peace. Instead, they will be much scarier, like the Xenomorph of Alien—destructive, human-hungry and totally evil. Because we don't ever want to be in the same room as it, we can't rank it too high. That said, they receive extra points for their authentic portrayal.

5. Little Green Men (Toy Story)

There's not much to the Little Green Men from Toy Story, but that is why we love them. Unlike Superman, these guys are a silly comedic relief, so they don't need to hold the same complexity. These toys truly are feel-good fun as they support Buzz Lightyear. Plus, they are adorable. We wouldn't be mad to see them be real.

4. Yoda (Star Wars)

May the force be with you, thanks to Yoda. Yoda is the ultimate Jedi Master of Star Wars. He's wise, peaceful and brave, and it's always exciting to see him switch into action mode as he battles to save the galaxy. We think we'd be better off if we had our own mentor and protector like this gentle green man.

3. Venom (Venom)

Venom, the character and the movie, have to be one of the most underrated in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. You'd think this symbiote would be as terrifying as Xenomorph, but he has a surprising sense of charm with Eddie Brock. He's super sassy without jeopardizing his scariness.

2. E.T. (E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial)

In our eyes, E.T. is the most famous alien. His story will pull at your heartstrings as he bonds with one boy before inevitably returning home. He's what we'd like to think aliens are: friendly and kind. And maybe, just maybe, they could form close bonds with us, too.

1. Stitch (Lilo & Stitch)

We're not sure if it's because the new Lilo & Stitch movie just released, but we have been loving this tiny blue guy. Stitch is arguably the sweetest alien on this list. And he's not perfect! He has flaws and makes mistakes, as Lilo would share with us. But that makes you want to root for him even harder.
