This weekend, stars including One Direction, Ed Sheeran, Adele and more will be gathering in the recording studio to record a new version of “Do They Know It’s Christmas” for Band Aid 30!
The first Band Aid was in 30 years ago in 1984, gathering the biggest stars in music together to record the original “Do They Know It’s Christmas” track for charity. Sales raised £8 million to help the famine problem in Ethiopia!
The track was recorded yet again in 1989 and 2004 for worthy causes.
On Saturday, November 15 some of today’s biggest stars, including One Direction, Ed Sheeran, Adele, Ellie Goulding, Ollie Murs and more will be giving the classic track yet another update update.
This time around, proceeds will go toward the fight against ebola in Africa. The song will feature updated lyrics that discuss the ebola crisis, and hopefully do a lot of good to end it!
The track will also feature Bono, Bastille, Chris Martin, Elbow, Emily Sande, Jessie Ware, Paloma Faith, Sam Smith, Underworld, Sinead O’Connor, Foals and maybe more!
After being recorded on Saturday, “Do They Know It’s Christmas” will be available for download on Monday for 99 pence in the U.K. We hope it’ll be open for the rest of the world to download sometime as well!
A physical copy will also be available across the U.K. in a few weeks.
We can’t wait to hear One Direction and the rest on the new track! Tell us what you think of their involvement in this great cause in the comments below and in our community at Sweety High!
