Carlos Knight Tells Us What It Means To Be a Supah Ninja!
The 2nd season finale of Supah Ninjas premieres on Saturday, April 27 on Nickelodeon! Two new episodes will show back-to-back, starring Carlos Knight as the wise-cracking Owen Reynolds.
We spoke to Carlos Knight before the finale to ask him a few questions about what it's like to get to be a Supah Ninja!
What would you say is your role as part of the Supah Ninjas team?
I play a character named Owen Reynolds. Owen's job is to provide the Supah Ninjas team with confidence. He brings a certain level of energy and bravado that no one else can. Each ninja brings something special to the table. Separately we're all flawed and vulnerable, but together we form an unstoppable crew.
Your Supah Ninjas character, Owen, is a huge fan of food. Is this a trait you share with your character?
I love food as much as my character does, but I don't enjoy quite as many different foods as Owen. I remember shooting a few episodes that required me to eat things I really don't enjoy very much. For example, in one episode I had to eat eight hot dogs and in another I had to eat seven extremely sweet sugar cookies. Both of those were not enjoyable experiences, but as you can see in the final cut of those episodes, Owen loved it.
What real-life skills do you have that would make you an excellent ninja?
I think I'd make an okay ninja in real life. I'm confident, athletic and adventurous. However, I'm easily distracted. I would probably forget about my missions and catch a movie or buy some shoes.
What is the coolest thing you've been able to do because you're a "Supah Ninja?"
From new martial arts skills to new dance moves to new ways to handle comedic moments, I've had the opportunity to learn something new every day on the set.
The coolest thing I get to do, however, would be living life as a professional actor. It's a dream come true.
If you could borrow one trait for your character, what would it be?
My character, Owen, has a care-free attitude that I wish I could apply to everyday situations. Owen approaches the life or death moments he faces with a unique "look-on-the-bright-side" attitude that I really appreciate. If I could use that way of thinking with stressful situations I confront in real-life, I would be a much happier person.
What is it like to get to work with George Takei?
Working with George is like working with a real life sensei. He has taught me so much about what it means to be a true professional and he definitely leads by example. George is always full of energy, offers wonderful advice and takes the time to share the things he's learned during his long successful career. I'm very appreciative of the guidance he's given me.
Which celeb would you want to see in one of the ninja outfits from the show?
I think I would enjoy watching Will Ferrell and Zoe Saldana rocking ninja suits.
