Here's What Happened When We Tried to Draw Cartoon Cats in Edges2cats

You've probably seen the neural network tool Edges2cats around the internet, turning (or trying to turn) line drawings into fluffy cats.

Obviously, not every cat in the system is going to be a masterpiece. Here are the results of drawing cartoon cats in the tool:

Pusheen the cat is known for his stubby legs and chubby body, but the Edges2cats version looks like a fluffy monster head with eyes everywhere. Definitely less cute!

Luna from Sailor Moon is one of the most iconic cats in anime. This drawn version actually does have a semblance of a cat's face, but the whiskers appear to be throwing it off…

Never mind. Minus the whiskers, it's not much better. And there's an eyeball in her tail. Not creepy at all.

This version of Tom from Tom & Jerry is the stuff of nightmares. There are eyeballs everywhere, and the black patch below his head makes it look like it's floating and disembodied.

Hello Kitty

We thought nothing could corrupt the sweet innocence of Hello Kitty. Zombie Kitty proved us wrong.

Who knew Pokémon could be this scary? This Meowth is made somehow scarier by the cat-like feature. The eyes and mouth make it look like something out of a spooky drawing, and as always, the extra floating eyeball to the right also gives us the heebie jeebies.

For once, this one doesn't look particularly creepy. Sylvester from Looney Tunes is fluffy in the right places and kind of looks like a cat. If anything, he looks tough and slightly angry.

If you squint really hard you can see Garfield's face hidden under extra eyes and mouths. Not a win, but also not terrible.

Cheshire Cat

The Cheshire Cat can be pretty creepy on his own, and putting him through Cats2Edges doesn't really help. Funnily enough, everything above his eyes is pure white for some reason, making his muzzle the iconic crescent moon shape.

Snowball II

Bizarrely, Snowball II from The Simpsons actually looks the most like his cartoon self—and an actual cat.
