Descendants 3 Cast Says Goodbye With Bittersweet Messages

The Descendants 3 cast is bringing tears to our eyes.

Filming on the movie about the teenage children of some of Disney's most notorious villains officially wrapped on Wednesday, July 18, and the cast said goodbye to the film franchise with a series of sweet social media posts.

Descendants 3 is expected to be the last film in the successful franchise, and is scheduled to air on the Disney Channel some time in 2019.

Dove Cameron, who plays Mal, daughter of Sleeping Beauty's Maleficent, got the ball rolling on July 17 when she shared a photo of herself posing with co-star Sofia Carson, who portrays the Evil Queen's daughter, Evie.

"It's the 2nd to last day on set & we're emotional," Dove captioned the snap of the ladies rocking their respective purple and blue hair. "This was obviously taken when we were feeling ourselves & not as emotional as we are today."

Two days later, Dove shared a picture of a framed photo that appears to show the cast standing with their hands in a circle. In front of the snapshot, Dove has her diary open, and you can see she's written, "Dear diary, Today is the last day of Descendants."

But Dove wasn't the only Descendants star who made us feel a lump in our throat. Sofia made us just as emotional with a letter she addressed to the world expressing gratitude for her Descendants family and fans. "There will never (ever) be enough words. From the very bottom of my heart, THANK YOU," she wrote. "We will forever and always be your Evie, Mal, Jay and Carlos. I love you Chlo, Cam and Boo."

Sofia went on to sign the letter, "Forever and always, Your Sof."

Kenny Ortega, who directed all three of the Descendants movies, also tugged at our heartstrings when he shared a photo from the final cast dinner on July 19. "Dinner with my Isle Kids on our final night in BC," he captioned the photo of himself seated with Sofia, Dove, Cameron Boyce and Booboo Stewart. "They each own a piece of my heart."
