Emily Harder Talks Musical Inspiration and More!

Emily Harder is a recording artist and songwriter with a massive voice and an incredible writing ability. We interviewed Emily recently about all things music!Emily Harder

"I've been singing since I can remember," Emily said.

Emily's parents have always been extremely musical, and Emily grew up listening to all kinds of music.

"It's always been my passion, and my way of communicating," Emily said.

Emily received an electric-acoustic guitar for Christmas when she was 13 or 14 years old.

"I taught myself how to play as soon as I got it, and I never stopped," Emily said.

She started writing original songs when she was 14, and has since continued to hone her songwriting skills.

"I try to write one everyday, so I have a lot of them," Emily said. "I usually just grab my guitar and pull up a blank email to myself and start singing whatever comes to mind, until it's finished."

Emily said that she is currently inspired musically by John Mayer, Lana Del Rey, and fun.

"I admire and respect so many of the artists right now," she explained. "It takes a lot of hard work, dedication and talent to make it."

If she could collaborate with any artists, Emily would pick "The A Team" singer Ed Sheeran and fun.'s Nate Ruess.

"Both are extremely talented singers and songwriters," she said. "I think our writing styles would match up well."

While Emily is a prolific writer, she also loves covering and adapting other people's songs to her own unique style. She puts a lot of thought into each song choice.

"I obviously want to pick cover songs that are popular, ones that people would want to hear, and I always take my fans' requests for songs," Emily said.

However, she doesn't pick songs just so they'll get views.

"I won't cover a song I haven't fallen in love with myself," she said. "I always have to love it to cover it."

When Emily chooses her latest song, she practices beforehand just to learn the chords.

"When I film my videos, I really just sing it in the moment, and recreate it on the spot," she said. "I find it's more real and authentic that way."

Emily has had a lot of success with her singing career, and thinks that other girls should try to do the same.

"I will always give my full support to anyone following their dreams," Emily said. "Passionate people who are willing to fight for something they love should always reach their goals. It takes a lot of practice, patience, hard work, and a love for it to make it. Never give up if it really is what you want. It'll be tough, but if you think you can do it, then you probably can. Have a good support system around you, and keep looking up."

For the last couple of years, Emily has worked hard to succeed, traveling often between Los Angeles and New York to record, write, conduct meetings, rehearse and more. Since she writes every day, she has a huge back stock of songs.

"I have so many songs I love that I would want to share with everyone right now," Emily said. "Hopefully sometime soon I can do that. I have some projects in the works that will be released soon, if all goes as planned, but until then I can't say much about it."

She promises to update her fans as soon as her plans are finalized!

"I've been very blessed to have such amazing fans, friends, and family throughout my journey so far," Emily said. "I wouldn't be where I am without them," she said."
