Emma Stone Is Gwen Tracy in Sony Spider-Man Reboot

Emma Stone has been cast as a lead female in Sony's upcoming Spider-Man film. Sony has confirmed that Emma will be playing Gwen Tracy, Peter Parker's former love interest. This is surprising, considering the weeks of speculation that she was to play Mary Jane Watson, performed in the last three films by Kirsten Dunst.

The newest Spider-Man will be entirely recast under the supervision of a new director. In this movie, Peter Parker, Spider-Man's alter ego, will actually be going back to high school. It is here we meet his two love interests: Mary Jane Watson and Gwen Tracy. It has already been confirmed that Andrew Garfield will be replacing Tobey Maguire as Peter Parker. No word yet on who will play red-haired Mary Jane. It is slated for theatrical release in Summer 2012.
