Happy Birthday Marie Curie!

Happy birthday Marie Curie! Sweety High would like to remember physicist and chemist Marie Curie, the first woman to ever win a Nobel Prize, today on her birthday!

Curie was born in 1867 in Warsaw, Poland, where she began her scientific training. At the age of 24, she traveled to study in Paris, where she earned her degrees in physics.

In 1903, Marie and her husband, Pierre Curie, shared a Nobel Prize in Physics with physicist Henri Becquerel for their research on radioactivity!

Curie also won the 1911 Nobel Prize in Chemistry for further research into the chemical properties of radioactive elements radium and polonium.

Cure even came up with the term "radioactivity!" Curie's achievements really paved the way for women in sciences!
