Which Literary Characters Would Survive the Hunger Games?
The final Hunger Games film is coming out all too soon, and after seeing the teaser trailer for Part II of Mockingjay, we're beyond excited. While Katniss obviously kicked butt in the games, we've been thinking about other YA characters that would make seriously good tributes if they were ever selected to compete in the arena. May the odds be ever in their favor!
Rose Hathaway: The Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead
Rose may have a bit of a temper problem, but the girl really knows how to take down a vampire. Mix that with her superhuman strength and speed, and you've got yourself one tough tribute.
Sam Temple: Gone by Michael Grant
Sam's ability to shoot powerful light from his hands might be cheating, but we think he still deserves a chance to compete. Plus, Sam's light just might be able to take down the barrier surrounding the arena, starting a different revolution entirely. Now THAT would be interesting.
Alice Bell: Alice in Zombieland by Gena Showalter
When Alice in thrown into a world of zombies and spirits, she learns how to defend herself pretty darn fast. This girl's survival instinct would make her a tribute you do not want to mess with.
Nathan Byrn: Half Bad by Sally Green
As a black witch, Nathan has a deep connection with nature that would be hard to match. Sure, the kid had to go through some pretty terrifying ordeals to become the tough witch he is now, but, what doesn't kill you makes you stronger, and he's had quite a few scrapes with death!
Annabeth Chase: Percy Jackson by Rick Riordan
Demi-god Annabeth, the daughter of Athena, is no stranger to a good fight. Her instincts as a leader and skills with a knife would certainly get her a hefty number of sponsors from the Capitol and help lead her to victory.
Peregrine: Under the Never Sky by Veronica Rossi
Peregrine has spent his entire life outdoors. His enhanced sense of smell allows him to sense other people's emotions which is not only totally awesome, but a pretty valuable asset in the arena. And like Katniss, Perry wields a bow and knows how to use it.
