Your Biggest Insecurity, Based on Your Zodiac Sign

If you're a living, breathing human being, you've dealt with insecurity.

All of us have our fair share of attributes that cause self-doubt and interfere with our levels of confidence. However, sometimes simply understanding your vulnerabilities can help you overcome them. And that's where astrology comes in.

Keep scrolling to learn your biggest insecurity, based on your zodiac sign.

Aries (March 21 – April 19): Failure

With your active and determined personality, it shouldn't come as a surprise that you value competition, Aries. While you're always willing to take a risk if it means coming in first, you also take failure much harder than other zodiac signs. For you, not being first means being last, and you quickly start judging and berating yourself whenever you experience a loss. However, you're not built to be the best at everything, Aries—no one is. Keep striving for greatness, but don't let your failures define your worth.

Taurus (April 20 – May 20): Instability

As one of the most well-grounded signs in the zodiac, Taurus, self-doubt quickly grows whenever you're thrown off kilter in any way. You like solid, realistic plans with lots of follow-through, and any last-minute changes or unexpected problems quickly interfere with your confidence and self-assurance. You start to worry that you're incapable of adjusting or that these new difficulties will keep you from meeting your goals. However, you're also a reliable and responsible sign, Taurus. You know you can accomplish what you set out to do, so learn how to go with the flow a little more and you're sure to be much happier.

Gemini (May 21 – June 20): Loneliness

You're the most social and communicative sign in all the zodiac, Gemini. Despite your tendency to get frustrated and moody at times, you love being surrounded by people and having plenty of friends and peers to bounce your ideas off of. However, your group-minded personality also means that you struggle to be by yourself. It's when you're alone that your self-doubt starts to grow. You begin to overthink everything you've said and done in the past few days, and you often find ways to convince yourself that you're not worthy of people's time and affection. But being alone can be good for you, Gemini. It's not a sign that people don't like you, it's just a sign that you need to get a little more comfortable spending time with yourself instead of drowning your worries in social settings.

Cancer (June 21 – July 22): Rejection

You're just a little ball of emotions, Cancer. You feel stable and at peace when you're surrounded by people who truly care about you as much as you care about them. It makes sense, then, that any kind of rejection would hit you harder than anyone else. You see rejection as an indication of your overall personality and worth, rather than realize you can't get everything you want all the time. You take rejection harder than anyone else, often spiraling into a pit of reproach and anger, mostly at yourself. However, one rejection isn't an indication of everything you are, Cancer—it's just a chance to do better the next time around.

Leo (July 23 – Aug. 22): Being Ignored

You're used to being the center of attention, Leo. You have a personality that people are drawn to, so you're not one to handle being ignored. Despite your cheerful and carefree personality, you're actually quite self-reflective, and a lack of attention is the easiest way to send you down a path of self-doubt. You start imagining that you must have said or done something wrong, that you've ruined your relationships and that your self-centered personality has finally pushed the people you care about away. In reality, people just can't give you endless attention at all hours of the day, Leo. Being ignored often doesn't mean anyone hates you—it just means they have their own things going on.

Virgo (Aug. 23 – Sept. 22): Criticism

Oh, Virgo. Unfortunately you're the very definition of someone who can dish it out, but can't take it. You're constantly critiquing everyone around you, as you have a tendency to get caught up in tiny details no one really cares about. But your critical personality mostly stems from your practical and well-organized nature. You always want to be doing things to the best of your ability, so any kind of criticism can severely affect your self-confidence. However, criticism might be just want you need to get better, Virgo. It doesn't mean you're doing a bad job, it just means someone else can see where you might improve, which will only help you in the long run.

Libra (Sept. 23 – Oct. 22): Being Disliked

Although you're all about justice and equality, at your core you're a major people-pleaser, Libra. It's primarily due to your peaceful personality—you just want to avoid conflict at all costs, as it makes you uncomfortable and nervous to clash with people. However, your definition of conflict is a little skewed, and you tend to become overly worried and upset when someone doesn't like you. You think that their distaste is a sign of tension you may have caused, when in reality you're just not going to be everyone's cup of tea. You can't be liked by everyone, Libra, so there's no use in allowing your self-esteem to fail every time someone has a problem with you.

Scorpio (Oct. 23 – Nov. 21): Vulnerability

There's nothing that cracks a Scorpio's hard exterior quite like being vulnerable. You're used to hiding all your emotions under a calm and cool facade, so it's understandable that showing your soft and mushy center would easily breed worry and self-doubt. You fear that people won't accept you for who you are or, even worse, that they'll turn around and betray your trust. But being vulnerable isn't a failure, Scorpio. In fact, it's probably just what you need to truly bond with the people around you.

Sagittarius (Nov. 22 – Dec. 21): Not Being Taken Seriously

You're an incredibly enthusiastic and optimistic sign, Sagittarius. You're not one to thrive on constant solemness, and instead you prefer a playful and humorous edge in all your interactions. But your lighthearted approach to the world doesn't mean you're shallow or dumb. In fact, you have quite a philosophical viewpoint that reflects your many experiences and your well-rounded understanding of the world.

Your biggest fear is not being taken seriously due to your carefree and silly personality. You have important stuff to say, and there's nothing that ruins your confidence like realizing the people around you are disregarding your viewpoint. Make your opinions known, Sag. It'll only take a few minutes before people see the incredible depth that lingers just beneath your carefree surface.

Capricorn (Dec. 22 – Jan. 19): A Lack of Productivity

Hardworking is a basically a personality trait for you, Capricorn. You're a responsible and disciplined sign who wants nothing more than to achieve your goals and truly excel, both in your personal and professional lives. You live in constant fear that you're not working as hard as you could be, making a lack of productivity your ultimate insecurity. However, you set the bar too high, Capricorn. Try to focus on what you are accomplishing rather than worrying about what you haven't accomplished, and you'll quickly see that your hard work more than pays off.

Aquarius (Jan. 20 – Feb. 18): Pretentiousness

As an Air sign, mental and intellectual stimulation are of the utmost importance to you, Aquarius. You value intelligent conversation and you're always looking for new ways to use your mind and expand your knowledge. However, you're also a very socially-minded person, and the last thing you want is to alienate people with your knowledgeable approach to the world. In fact, you want to pull everyone in on the conversation, as you're often able to find validity in all arguments. Your biggest insecurity is being seen as pretentious in your quest for knowledge, as you know how irritating and alienating that can be.

Pisces (Feb. 19 – March 20): Passiveness

You're one of the sweetest and most compassionate signs in all the zodiac, Pisces. But it's precisely your caring personality that worries you so much. You live in constant fear that your gentle character will be seen as passiveness, when in reality you're actively looking for ways to help and improve the people around you. You don't want people to think you can be taken advantage of, and when they seem to mistake your giving personality for inactivity, you quickly become riddled with self-doubt. You start to worry that you're not doing enough, or that you're not being assertive in your efforts to help people. However, you can't control everyone's perception, Pisces. You know you're a determined and forceful presence of change—don't let other people convince you otherwise.
