Is Texting Amongst Teens A Real Problem?

Nielsen recently released data that shows an alarming trend in texting amongst teens. According to their numbers, the average teen sends 3,339 texts a month, and the average teen girl sends 4,000 (or more) each moth. If we did our math correctly, that's over 140 texts a day!

The data was collected from April, May, and June of this year, and it shows that the number of texts sent has increased by 8% from that time last year. As texting increases, voice calls decrease– voice usage has gone down 14%. Out of the people who were surveyed, 22% claimed texting was easier than calling and 20% also reported that it was the faster.
