Jade LeMac on Sharing a Message of Reassurance With ‘Running Home’ and Her Upcoming EP
Over the last couple of years, 21-year-old Canadian pop sensation Jade LeMac has absolutely taken over the music scene with her viral track "Constellations," and she's already making 2025 her biggest year yet.
After performing at both Osheaga Festival and Lollapalooza earlier this year, she'll be joining Maren Morris as an opener on her North American tour this fall. She also just announced that her next EP, It's Always at Night, will be releasing on Nov. 7, with the news accompanied by the release of her new single, "Running Home."
The effervescent and irresistible pop track, backed by inspiring strings, is a love song about creating a sense of safety and comfort in a relationship. It's a reassurance that no matter what happens, she'll always come back home to the one she loves, and we can't think of anything more romantic. We had the pleasure of catching up with Jade to get the inside scoop on the song, her EP and her biggest touring news. Catch it all in the interview below.
Sweety High: What's the story behind "Running Home"? Is it based on a real-life relationship?
Jade LeMac: It's a song about reassurance. Telling your partner no matter what, you'll always come back to them. I wouldn't say it's based on my relationship but I will always draw certain inspirations from it.

SH: What does the song mean to you, and what do you hope it will mean to your listeners?
JL: To me, it feels like a feel-good song and I hope others feel the same. Other than that, they can interpret it how they want.

SH: What's your favorite lyric from the song? Why?
JL: "I'd have no shoes on my feet, I'd go 'til they bleed, if I'm what you need," is my favorite lyric because the song is about "running home" to somebody so it shows the desperation.
SH: Congrats on your Lollapalooza debut! What did it mean to you to take the stage at such a prestigious festival? Was there a standout moment from the event you'll always take with you?
JL: Thank you! Lolla was such an amazing experience that I will forever be grateful for. It means so much to be able to perform at such a big festival especially as it was the first one I've done in the U.S. My mom was also able to come which made it so much better.

SH: You're also touring with Maren Morris this fall! Why did that feel like the perfect fit?
JL: I've heard so many amazing things about Maren, and the music she's made is so great. She's been leaning into pop more recently and that's a lot of what I do so when I had the opportunity to tour with her, it was a no-brainer.
SH: Anything you're looking forward to most on this tour?
JL: I am so excited to meet everybody, travel to cities I've never been to, as well as perform at all these amazing venues.

SH: Anything you can tease about your upcoming EP? Where does "Running Home" fit into its wider narrative?
JL: This upcoming EP is coming out in the fall and is inspired by the time of day when the sun goes down and all the emotions that come with it. "Running Home" fits into that theme because it's about the feeling of loving somebody.
