Watching TV: A Dog's Favorite Past Time?

Minny the dog loves watching TV, especially when other dogs are on. You could say it makes her jump with joy!

Not all dogs watch TV. Whether a dog enjoys watching TV involves a few factors, including the dog's eyesight, and even the frame rate of your television set!

What that means, is that dogs can basically see faster than us. To dogs, an older TV set shows film that looks like a series of pictures to a dog, rather than a fluid, moving video. Think of a slowed-down .gif, like the one below!

But now that TVs are being built with higher frame-rates, dogs see moving pictures, just like we do. They think that what they see is happening right in front of them. And why shouldn't they?
