Lauren Cimorelli: What Girl Power Means To Me
I think girl power is being a girl and standing up for yourself, respecting yourself, not letting people push you around and, of course, embracing your femininity.
The picture that comes to mind when I think of girl power is a girl who's wearing an awesome all pink outfit while hitting a punching bag!
I think because girls just by nature are usually smaller and more fragile than men, sometimes they feel like they can't stand up for themselves or be powerful.
But I think sometimes we need to be reminded that we're all equal. We can stand up for ourselves and respect ourselves and assert our right to say "No."
I have five sisters and I'm around them all the time, and we're always empowering each other. Whenever we get together there's a lot of girl power in the room and that's really important to me.
