Lean In Collection Creates Girl Power Stock Images!

Tired of clichéd stock images of women wearing plastic smiles as they laugh at their salad? Getty Images and LeanIn.org are aiming to change the stock image with the new Lean In Collection.Lean In Collection Getty Images

The Lean In Collection includes 25000 new pictures representing modern women and families in a way that's both realistic and empowering.

Getty Images and LeanIn.org worked together to create a stockpile of images that the Getty describes it as "a library of images devoted to the powerful depiction of women, girls and the people who support them."

LeanIn.Org is an organization dedicated to the empowerment of women founded by Facebook COO, Sheryl Sandberg.

In the past, stock images of women have been full of clichés, objectification and negative stereotypes. The new images show women in a whole new light, which might help change society's views on women in general.

They show real women doing real work and demonstrating the power they have, rather than fabricated situations. Overworked and overstressed moms of past stock photos become loving mothers who are also capable multitasking.

"I think there's been a lot of women in power suits with boxing gloves or women in stiletto heels stepping on men," Pamela Grossman, Getty's director of visual trends, told NPR "and that's definitely the kind of work that we are aggressively shifting away from."
