More has been revealed about the upcoming Disney film Moana, which tells the story of a Polynesian princess!
Moana tells the story of teenage girl Moana Waialiki, set in Oceania, in the South Pacific in ancient times. Moana is the only daughter of the village chief, and descends from a long line of expert sea navigators.
When danger threatens her family back home, she sets out on a deadly journey to fulfill a quest set long ago by her ancestors, taking off on an epic ocean journey in search of an island said to exist only in legend.
Along the way, she befriends the demigod Maui, recruiting him to aid her on her mission. She’ll need his help as she takes on sea monsters, uncovers yet-discovers worlds and discovers the mysterious truth behind the folklore of her people!
Moana will be directed by the creators of Aladdin, The Little Mermaid and The Princess and the Frog, Ron Clements and John Musker.
The film is being created with CG-animation in a painterly style, making it appear that a canvas is coming to life onscreen!
Disney also recently released the first look concept art for the film. It reveals Moana and Maui on a tiny, handmade raft sailing along vast cerulean seas as they approach massive mountain peaks!
