Pitcher Mo'ne Davis Named 2014 SportsKid Of the Year!

13 year-old baseball pitcher Mo'ne Davis made history this year, and it's only fitting that she's been named the 2014 Sports Illustrated SportsKid of the Year!mo'ne davis sportskid of the year 2014

Mo'ne, the pitcher for the Philadelphia Taney Dragons, became the first girl to ever pitch a shutout game in the Little League World Series this summer. She stunned sports fans with her 70 mile an hour fastball, and proved that girls can hold their own on the mound!

"When Mo'ne pitched the historic shutout at the LLWS, she did more than just play a boys game," wrote Sports Illustrated. "She dominated it, showing the nation that a girl can throw heat, too. She also inspired countless kids to dream big."

First Lady Michelle Obama even told Mo'ne "You knocked it out of the park for girls everywhere."

The young athlete also plays basketball and soccer, and graces the December 2014 issue of SI Kids!
