When the weather turns crisp outside, we always find ourselves wanting to listen to holiday music.
We know, we know—it’s only October. But, Kelly Clarkson already came out with a Christmas album! And we think that’s a sign that it’s perfectly okay to start listening to the genre. On top of that, other artists like Adele and Coldplay have come out with new music, and we’re in love. Keep scrolling to find out all about the 10 big things that happened in music the week of Oct. 15, 2021.
Noa Kirel has been absolutely killing it internationally, and we’re so glad she’s started to make waves here in the states. Featuring some stunning outfits and incredible choreography we can’t wait to take to TikTok, her latest song and music video for “Bad Little Thing” will make everyone want to dance. “The song is an empowerment anthem and I really connect to it especially at this stage in my life,” Noa explained in a press release. “I hope it inspires people to be strong, fearless, and independent!”
If you’re a fan of American Idol, you absolutely know who Benson Boone is. The alum left the show early to get a head-start on his career, and he’s already making a big scene with his new single, “Ghost Town.” Shot in black and white, this track and music video will pull on your heartstrings. “This song to me is basically a way to express maturity in saying that a relationship is hurting more than it’s helping,” Benson told Sweety High in an interview. “The chorus being ‘maybe you’d be happier with someone else’ isn’t him or her trying to push someone away with ill intention, rather a form of showing love by saying they would be happier without you.”
PinkPantheress released her debut mixtape, To hell with it, and we are in love! Featuring 10 tracks including her single “Pain” and our favorite “Nineteen,” there is so much to listen to. With lyrics that are all-too-relatable, we think everyone will find something they like. In a press release, PinkPantheress shared, “I’m super excited to share this project with you all as my first body of work, I’ve been collecting songs that I’ve made this year and while I’m still developing my sound, I’m hoping these songs immerse you into your ideal fantasy world as you listen.”
Country singer Dylan Schneider is just 21 years old and on the rise. With the release of his latest song and music video for “Right Girl,” we can’t stop listening to his music. Written by fellow country singer Morgan Wallen, “Right Girl” is all about missing a girl he used to date. With fun lyrics and a backstory we can all get behind, this is the type of song we see ourselves driving down the highway in with our besties with the windows rolled down.
Attention all Christmas-lovers, Kelly Clarkson has released her new album, When Christmas Comes Around! Cue the hysterics. Even though we’re merely in October, we’ve already streamed the new album—and now we’re really in the holiday spirit. With musical guests like Ariana Grande, Chris Stapleton and Brett Eldredge to look forward to, you’ll be singing right along. Our favorite has to be “Santa Can’t You Hear Me” with Ariana Grande. Both of the singers’ vocals together are truly amazing and something we plan on listening to all season long.
Is Vera Blue even human? Any time she sings we feel like we’re transported to another world. Her voice is truly iconic and one-of-a-kind, and that’s made evident in her latest song, “Temper.” Vibey at its core, “Temper” is an electronic bop that leaves us with our eyes closed and our bodies moving to the beat. “‘Temper’ is an anthem of defiance that translates the turbulence of new love into driving, 80’s-inspired pop,” Vera explained in a press release. “I don’t know whether it’s made up, but people always say redheads are a bit fiery and that we have a bit of a short fuse. This song’s about grabbing hold of that emotion and trying to suppress it so you don’t scare your partner away. It makes me dance, but it’s also got that emotional edge.”
What do you get when Coldplay and BTS come together? Pure magic—that’s what! Their latest collab on “My Universe” pops up on Coldplay’s new album, Music of the Spheres, out now. The album features 12 stunning songs—some of which have rather interesting titles. We can’t think of anyone else who uses emojis for the name of a song! After listening to the album in its entirety, we think it’s safe to say Coldplay is on a new wave. With their music as dreamy as ever, we plan on blasting this all fall-long.
Sam Fischer is able to take a pop song and give you all the feels with his latest single, “Hopeless Romantic.” It’s clear through his lyrics that he’s a romantic at heart, and the deep and emotional words he sings about are so relatable for those of us who have ever been in a relationship. “There have been times over the past two years where I really felt like I’d never get to do the things I’d always dreamed about doing as an artist,” Sam explained in a press release about the single. “With every virtual performance that ended with a deep silence from my furniture, it just started making me really sad, and at the same time guilty, because I wasn’t appreciating what I have at all. I was actively refusing to accept the reality and instead romanticizing a version of life that just simply didn’t exist.”
If you’re on TikTok, you 100% know who Dixie D’Amelio is. But after her rebrand as just Dixie, we think the star is trying to make a name for herself in the music world—and we’re not mad! In fact, we are very impressed with her single, “The Real Thing,” and have not been able to stop listening to it. It’s an instant bop and we find ourselves grooving to it and singing along. “I’m releasing The Real Thing for the fans,” Dixie shared in a press release. “The same fans that support me and motivate me to keep going when I’m feeling defeated. You requested this, so I’m delivering the full version to you. I’m so thankful for all of you and I’m really excited to be able to drop this!”
Adele is a goddess—there, we said it! After years of listening to her music as loyal fans, we had high expectations for her new single, “Easy On Me,” and it was a million times better than we ever could have expected. After all, we waited for six years for a new single! The music video gives us all the typical Adele vibes—strong vocals, a killer chorus and a beautiful star. “Easy On Me” is going to go down in Adele’s history as one of her greatest songs ever recorded, which has already been proven on Spotify as being the most-streamed song in a single day.
