Pantone Names Marsala Color of the Year for 2015!
Since the 1950s, the Pantone corporation has existed to provide color-matching for design industries. Every year, Pantone releases a vast collection of color cards, each with a name and number.
Fashion designers, costumers, interior designers, and pretty much everyone else in the design field use these cards as the standard to match colors with each other. Does your Broadway play have costume pieces made in Paris? Maybe your fashion show includes clothing from Milan! People from all over the globe can be sure that these colors match perfectly thanks to Pantone's color standards.
Being the experts at color that they are, Pantone chooses a color every year to represent the fashions and mood of the time. 2014 was the year of Radiant Orchid, a vibrant purple tone. We're still seeing berry and purple colors everywhere! 2013 was the year of the Emerald. You probably remember all those teal tones!
The verdict is in, and the color of the year for 2015 will be Marsala! Marsala is a rich brownish-red tone. Named after a red wine, this color is earthy and stylish! You'll be sure to see Marsala all over the place next year and we can't wait!
