Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire Demo Review!

Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire won't be available until November 28, but the Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire Special Demo Version on the Nintendo 3DS is giving select fans the chance to test out aspects of the game early, and we've had the chance to test it out!pokémon alpha ruby omega sapphire demo version

The demo places you mid-game in Mossdeep City as a male character named Orlando. There, you meet Steven, a Steel-type Pokémon trainer and the Champion of the Hoenn region.

He allows players to pick from the 2nd form of each of the three starter Pokémon. While in the full game, you'll select from the fire Pokémon Torchic, water-type Mudkip and grass-type Treecko, here you'll choose from their evolved forms Combusken, Marshtomp and Grovyle.

Once you've picked your Pokémon, Steven sets you off on an adventure! While all of the buildings in Mossdeep are locked, you can speak with Steven, who will whisk you away on the back of his flying Pokémon, Latios, to an island with a problem that needs solving.

There, you'll learn all of the basics of Pokémon training, if you're not yet familiar. First, you'll encounter wild Pokémon in tall grass and face off in battle for the first time. The demo features Linoone, Loudred, Nosepass, Slakoth and more. Each of these Pokémon originally appeared during the series' third generation in the original Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire back in 2003!

Once you've learned the battle basics, you'll also fight other Pokémon trainers in the form of Team Aqua and Team Magma grunts. These two opposing teams have very different goals, but we won't learn more about them until the full game releases!

These battles will lead to another important element from the Pokémon series: evolution. Since the Pokémon you started with is just a level away from his final form, you'll get the chance to see the awesome process take place, making your Pokémon stronger than ever.

Next, Steven will teach you the basics of Mega Evolution using special stones and the Mega Bracelet. This allows your Pokémon to take different forms with even greater powers!

You'll have the first opportunity to try out these skills against the admins of Team Magma and Team Aqua, Tabitha and Matt, in a double battle with Steven as your battle partner.

Steven also Mega Evolves his Pokémon, a shiny Metagross! Shiny Pokémon are extremely rare, with alternate coloring. The shiny Metagross has steel-colored skin rather than the typical ice-blue.

Once Tabitha and Matt have been defeated, Steven gives you some Pokéballs for the chance to capture a Pokémon on your own. In the grass, you'll encounter the Ice-type Pokémon Glalie, which is also capable of Mega Evolution!

Once Glalie has been caught, that portion of the demo comes to a close, and we get a glimpse at some of the awesome features that will be available in the full game. We get to see cool bike tricks, different outfits for Pikachu, secret bases and more!

Best of all, you'll be able to transfer the Glalie you've captured into the full version of the game!

And if you didn't get enough out of your first experience with the demo, you can play again and again to test out different aspects of the game. Again, Steven will guide you on the back of Latios or Latias to an island, where a new quest awaits.

This time around, you'll be able to fight with your newly caught Glalie, as well as the final forms of all three starter Pokémon, testing their awesome Mega Evolutions in battle.

The more you play, the more characters you'll unlock in Mossdeep City. You'll also get the chance to send special items to your full version of the game once it releases!

We absolutely can't wait for Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire to hit stores at the end of the month. Will you be playing, too?
