4 Questions to Ask Yourself to Make This Year the Best Yet

2022 is now in full swing, but it's never too late to make this (or any) year the best one yet!

It all starts with a little bit of self-reflection, and the best way to do that is by asking yourself the following questions:

1. What Do I Want to Achieve?

Whether you make the end goals for this "in the next year" or even "in the next five years," asking yourself what you want in terms of your goals is necessary in order to ever get close to achieving them. Write down some goals both big and small that you'd like to achieve, whether that be acing your next exam, getting into your dream college or moving out of your parents' house by a certain date. Whatever your goal may be, noting it down will help you recognize what steps and actions you'll need to take to get to that goal.

2. Am I Surrounding Myself With the Right People?

In many ways, the people you surround yourself with reflect who you are. So, take a look at your closest circle and think: Are these people I trust? Are they people I know will always support me and have my back? Do they root for my success and cheer me on in life? If you hesitated to answer yes to any of those questions—and especially if you answered no to any of them—then it may be time to take stock and reevaluate who you keep close. And if you answered with a hard yes to all of them, then take time to appreciate those amazing friends and spend as much time with them (and supporting them right back) as you can.

3. What Makes Me Happy?

We live such fast-paced lives these days that sometimes we can forget to slow down and actually think about what makes us truly happy. The answer can be as literal or figurative as you'd like; remember, it's all about your personal happiness. Maybe reading fantasy books makes you happy, or spending time with your friends (even when you aren't actually "doing" anything at all), or cooking when no one else is in the kitchen with you or even just playing with your family dog. Whatever it is, do more of the things that spark joy and create new memories by doing them.

4. What Am I Thankful For?

Thankfulness isn't just for Thanksgiving, people. Feeling a sense of gratitude for the things you have in life, whether that be for the amazing friends you have or simply the roof over your head, is key to overall happiness and developing a more optimistic outlook on life—and that's a pretty great way to make this the best year yet.
