Taylor Swift Is SO CLOSE to Beating One Direction's Teen Choice Awards Record
Breaking records has kind of been Taylor Swift's thing throughout her career, and the pop star has the chance to do it again.
While the members of One Direction currently boast the most Teen Choice Award wins ever, Taylor might change that on Aug. 12. She's up for six awards at the 2018 show, and she currently trails One Direction by just three wins.
Taylor has had a storied career. Since her first Teen Choice Award win in 2008, she has taken home 25 trophies in total. No other solo artist has equaled that feat.
Meanwhile, One Direction has had an impressive run, too. They skyrocketed to fame more recently than Taylor and won their 28 Teen Choice Awards in quick succession between 2012 and 2016. With their ongoing hiatus, they're only up for one award as a group this year: Choice Fandom, a category in which they'll face off against Taylor and others. However, the remaining members of the band—Niall Horan, Harry Styles, Liam Payne and Louis Tomlinson—have all been nominated for at least one award each individually.
As you can imagine, there are a lot of factors at play here, so we'll have to see how the Teen Choice Awards shake out and if a new record holder emerges. We're ready for it.
The show is set to air Sunday, Aug. 12 at 5 p.m. PT on Fox.
