The 12th Doctor, Peter Capaldi's, Doctor Who Debut!

The 8th season of Doctor Who premieres tomorrow, August 23rd, and will feature the debut of the 12th Doctor, Peter Capaldi!Doctor Who Peter Capaldi 12th Doctor

The Doctor is a two-and-half-thousand year-old Timelord from the planet Gallifrey. He travels through time and space in his TARDIS, a time machine and spacecraft styled to look like a London police box from the '60s.

Timelords have a unique method of survival. As their bodies reach the end of their lifespans, they can completely regenerate to keep on. Though this process leaves their memories intact, regeneration also gives them an entirely new body, with a new personality to boot!

This process has kept the series fresh since its debut in 1963! During this time, 13 different actors have portrayed The Doctor in different incarnations.

The series originally ran from 1963 to 1989, returned briefly on the big screen in 1996, and came back full swing with a revival of the series in 2005.

The latest to take on the challenging role is Scottish actor Peter Capaldi!

Capaldi was a huge fan of the series as a teenager. He wrote fan letters to the show's creators, and to his surprise, they read his letter and sent him two scripts of yet-unaired episodes of Doctor Who!

Peter Capaldi had never seen a television script before. He says the event propelled him to become an actor!

The first episode of season 8 is titled "Deep Breath," and will feature prehistoric dinosaurs on the run throughout Victorian London! In this episode, The Doctor will have to discover himself and adapt to being a new Timelord, while his human companion Clara must come to terms with her old friend's change.

We absolutely can't wait to see what will unfold in season 8! If you've always wanted to travel with The Doctor, be sure to join one of our Doctor Who fan clubs and discuss with other fans at!
