A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas

During our middle school years, we loved fantasy books. They were all we read. As we've gotten older, we've forgotten about the genre, but Sarah J. Maas's A Court of Thorns and Roses roped us in again. The first book in this series introduces Feyre, a hunter who accidentally kills a wolf. But after being taken to the faerie land as punishment, she learns things aren't what she believed.

Children of Blood and Bone by Tomi Adeyemi

Tomi Adeyemi just wrapped up the final installment of her Legacy of Orïsha trilogy, which has readers running to revisit the first, Children of Blood and Bone.

After disaster strikes, Zélie must restore the magic of her land and avenge her mother who was killed during the storm. With the help of Princess Amari, the quest might not be so difficult after all.

If you end up loving this book, you'll be excited to see its adaptation hit screens in the upcoming years. It's currently being developed by Paramount Studios, with Gina Prince-Bythewood (The Woman King) attached as the director.
