5 Classes Women Should Take for Self-Defense
It's a scary world. You can never predict when something bad will happen, but you can stay prepared. Self-defense classes will provide you the skill set to protect yourself if something goes awry.
Below, discover five different courses you should consider taking to stay safe.
Karate
Karate is often called the most straightforward martial art. With each move, you will deceivingly pack quite the punch. After all, you've probably seen those students who can chop a block of wood like it's a piece of paper. Those are the types of moves that can stun someone for long enough to retreat to safety.

Boxing
Are you determined to choose fight or flight? Kickboxing will give you the upper hand to meet your match with power. As you've probably seen with tournaments and training, it's about throwing the hardest punch (or kick) that you can. To win, you'd keep your opponent down or make them unconscious as a total knockout (TKO).

Muay Thai
Muay Thai uses every limb and more—your arms, legs, hands, feet, elbows and knees! This martial art will ensure that you're strong at every point in your body. In other words, you won't have a weak spot for them to target. More than likely, the criminal won't be that skilled to take someone with that level of training.

Taekwondo
If you are on the smaller side, taekwondo may be one of the most efficient martial arts to learn. Compared to other forms that emphasize size and strength, taekwondo focuses on speed. You will be able to outsmart your attacker with kick dodges and hits. If it comes down to it, you may also be able to flee more quickly.
Mixed Martial Arts
Do all these different forms sound appealing to you? Using a mixed martial arts technique, you can take bits and pieces from each style to tailor to your needs. You might prefer the speed of taekwondo, but you also want to throw a jab like someone with Muay Thai training. Truly, you will get the best of all worlds.
