A Farmer's Market

Is it just us or does fruit taste better in summer? Probably because it's the most fresh! If you want to indulge in some tasty berries and citruses, head to your local farmer's market. These days, you can also find other items to purchase, like tchotchkes and accessories.

Surfing

While surfing during the winter or fall can be ideal for smaller crowds, we have noticed there is more rain and wind during these times. These conditions can quickly make your surfing experience more dangerous.

During the summer, the sun is shining and the water is warm. Because of the moderate weather, you might notice less intense waves, suitable for beginners. Plus, you'll probably have an easier time finding a coach with the high demand.

Concerts

There is a reason why Coachella is held during April. It's far too hot to spend a weekend in the desert during the summer. That said, other concerts are much easier on the body. You only have to watch one artist (and maybe an opener or two) and you have the option to sit in a chair. Plus, it's also outdoor music show season, so take advantage of the good views by spending an evening with your favorite artists.

Outdoor Dinners

Dining outside isn't fun when it's cloudy or windy. Since the weather tends to settle during the summer, make the most of your eating experience by picking a table outdoors. You'll get to feel the heat of the sun on your skin and soak in some vitamin D. Somehow, it totally makes your food even tastier.

Skiing

Maybe, you aren't a fan of the heat. You can cool off by heading to a ski hill. It sounds wild, but, yes, California has skiing lodges that operate through every season. You'll still need your skiing gear, but it won't be nearly as chilly as it would be during the winter months.

Stargazing

As we mentioned earlier, the clouds are definitely clearing up in sunny California. If you want to avoid the heat, head out at night to feel the most comfortable. One of the most affordable and exciting things you could do is stargazing. For extra points, you could even travel to an isolated location, like Joshua Tree, that isn't obscured by the metropolitan fog and light pollution.

Early Morning Hiking

Usually, hiking during the summer is something we prefer to avoid, but it is actually quite nice to try it out in the mornings. Since the sun isn't fully up, it's not so sweltering. You'll just want to time it right because running behind will have you hiking uphill during the sun's most visible hours.
