Conquer Your Reading Slump With One of These 5 Tips
No matter how much you enjoy reading, there will come a point when you have zero desire to pick up a book. It doesn't matter if it's completely in your wheelhouse. Your brain doesn't process the words nor does reading it bring you joy.
In other words, you're in a reading slump. It can be frustrating because your mind wants to read, but your body's subconsciously preventing you from doing so.
Curious to learn the best way to beat your slump? Continue reading to discover five tips we use to stay motivated.
Take a Break
If you hit a wall, it may be your body telling you to take a break. Honestly, we aren't sure that our brains are meant to consume that much information. It's always good to give your brain a pause from the intense level of activity. When your motivation returns, you will notice you retain the story better and feel more entertainment from reading. After all, diving into a book shouldn't be a chore.

Revisit Your Favorites
For whatever reason, some people don't want to halt their reading schedule. It becomes a habit to read every day. Instead of trying to follow a new story, revisit one of your old favorites. It's actually calming for the brain to predict what will happen next. Plus, you already know you like the story, so you won't feel frustrated or upset after you finish.

If you are anything like us, it can be even more challenging to reread a book. That said, when you know your taste well, you can still find a book to reset. Try to aim for something you know won't feel like an info dump. Graphic novels are a great option. We also like fast-paced, action-packed thrillers.
Join a Book Club
Do you want to prevent future reading slumps? You may want to consider the amount of time you spend with your nose in a book. An easy way to maintain a healthy amount of reading is by joining a book club. Plus, it's even more fun to know you can discuss why you loved (or hated) the novel. There's truly nothing like interacting with other readers.

Try a New Environment
