The Boxtrolls Stop-Motion Film Coming This Year!
LAIKA, the studio that created hit films Coraline and Paranorman, has released the final trailer for its next film, The Boxtrolls, which is scheduled to come out September 26th of 2014!
The film was shot using a combination of 3D stop-motion and CG animation. It features the voice talent of stars including Elle Fanning, Simon Pegg, Toni Collette, Isaac Hempstead-Wright and Ben Kingsley.
This humorous tale is about a boy named Eggs who was orphaned at a young age in the town of Cheesebridge in the Victorian era. There, the townsfolk are obsessed with wealth, class and stinky cheeses.
Eggs is adopted and raised by a group of Boxtrolls, creatures who live in the sewers of Cheesebridge and like to collect trash to create amazing inventions. As he grows, he learns their customs and becomes one of them.
Though the town's inhabitants believe Boxtrolls steal their priceless goods and prized cheeses, the Boxtrolls are actually extremely kind creatures who mostly take a fondness to boxes. They are constantly on the hunt for new boxes to wear, in the manner that hermit crabs seek out shells.
One day, Eggs discovers that an evil exterminator named Archibald Snatched has targeted his friends. The Boxtrolls ask Eggs, along with a rich girl named Winnie, to help show the people that the Boxtrolls are really not as bad as everyone makes them out to be.
The Boxtrolls is based off of Alan Snow's popular fantasy novel, Here Be Monsters. We absolutely can't wait to see this charming animated movie when it releases in September!
