The 5 Most Popular Fan Casts for the Upcoming Legend of Zelda Adaptation
On Nov. 9, Nintendo announced that a Legend of Zelda live-action adaptation is officially in development. It'll be led by the franchise's creator, Shigeru Miyamoto, and The Maze Runner director, Wes Ball, so we're in good hands.
It'll probably be a few years before the film actually hits theaters, but that hasn't stopped superfans from assembling their dream casts. Below, discover a few of the actors lovers of the film are advocating for.
Hunter Schafer as Zelda
By a landslide, The Hunger Games prequel and Euphoria star Hunter Schafer is the most popular fan cast for the lead role of Zelda. It's become so popular that reporters have already asked her about it on the red carpet, and she responded that it "would obviously be so cool." We'd love to see it too—she's a great actress with that same dreamy elf look.
Anya Taylor-Joy as Zelda
Like Hunter, Anya Taylor-Joy has that ethereal appearance—large doe eyes, adorable round cheeks, and Zelda's icy blonde hair. We know Anya would knock any performance out of the park. The only reason we'd prefer to see someone else in the role is because we already saw her star as another iconic video game queen, Princess Peach, earlier this year.

Tom Holland as Link
Fans have been hoping for Tom Holland as Link since before Nintendo announced the film. It makes sense. Even at 27, Tom still has that boyish, adventurous charm and scruff that embodies Link. Tom always stays booked and busy, so we wouldn't be surprised if we saw him on the big screen for Zelda.
Thomas Brodie-Sangster as Link
Casting actors is a beautiful thing. Hunter and Anya have similar energy. And Thomas Brodie-Sangster could easily be type-cast the same as Tom Holland. It would be very exciting to see him in something action-packed. The last similar role we watched him in was The Maze Runner.
Idris Elba as Ganon
Let's take a step back from our protagonists. One of Zelda's most unrelenting villains is undoubtedly Ganon, and viewers are rallying for Idris Elba to play him. He makes an amazing brooder—Idris has that stoic, hard shell, which is perfect for Ganandorf. Honestly, this might be our favorite fan cast we've seen thus far.
