5 Truths Every Figure Skater Can Relate To
As a figure skater, you probably spend the entire year on the ice, but you also know that winter is the prime season for skating. Your club rink probably has a few exhibitions during this time. You'll be going on more skating dates with friends. You might even get a chance to skate outdoors on real ice, so it's safe to say you'll be spending extra time doing your favorite hobby.

The peak season has us remembering all the things we love (and maybe don't appreciate as much) about the sport. Below, discover a few of the good and the bad things that we all know too well about skating.
Nothing Is Scarier Than Skating on Freshly Sharpened Blades
After a few weeks of skating, you get used to the way your blades feel. Sure, they might be a little dull, but it's easy to stop, spin and land those jumps on the right edge. But when you finally get a fresh sharpen, it's like learning how to walk again. Suddenly, it's impossible to stop with precision. You're slipping under your edge. Thankfully, it only lasts for a few sessions.

Everyone Is Impressed by Your 'Tricks' During Public Skate
When skating with friends, who doesn't like to break out a few spins and jumps? It's too dangerous to bust a double axel in the middle of public skate, but a simple scratch spin or single toe loop will have everyone "ooh"-ing and "ahh"-ing at your skills. Now that's one time we can embrace being the center of attention.

Getting to Play Your Program Music During Practice Ice Is Like The Hunger Games
Competition season is ruthless and every second you get on the ice to practice your program is basically gold. However, all the skates at your rink feel the same, causing some tension about who gets to play their music first. So, make it count!
The Cold Never Bothered You Anyway
Like all other sports, figure skating will work up quite the sweat. But it's a weird mixture because of the cold atmosphere. Because of this, you'll feel comfortable wearing a tee in freezing temperatures while everyone else needs to bundle up in coats, gloves and more.

Falling Is Second Nature to You
When training, you will spend more time falling than skating. It's all a part of the process. But even when you've got a solid grasp on the move, you still will have a few times where you trip and fall. After all the bruises (and a few injuries), it's something we've all learned to just laugh at.
