Here’s Everyone Rumored to Be in the New Hunger Games Film
Suzanne Collins' next installment of The Hunger Games, Sunrise on the Reaping, has almost been out for one month. Now, rumors about the cast for the upcoming film have been swirling with a vengeance.
Curious to discover who we might see on the big screen when Haymitch Abernathy's story premieres next November? Continue reading to learn more about the actors who have allegedly been approached to star.
Haymitch Abernathy
As the protagonist of this book, Haymitch is the most important casting, but it's not as simple as finding the best actor for the part. If you watched the first three movies, you'll know Woody Harrelson played adult Haymitch—and did a spectacular job—so the actor who steps into the role will have to look like a young version of Woody and embody the character he played more than a decade ago.
So far, reports have mentioned Charlie Plummer as the No. 1 choice to reprise Woody's role. Thankfully, he does look very similar, and we loved his performance in Looking for Alaska!

President Coriolanus Snow
President Snow has been the one consistent through each film in the franchise. Donald Sutherland originated the role in 2012, and the young version was played by Tom Blyth in 2023. Since he will be middle-aged during Sunrise on the Reaping (between Songbirds and Snakes and THG), fans have campaigned for Donald's son, Kiefer, to play the role. However, outlets have reported that Ralph Fiennes will actually be our next Coriolanus.
Caesar Flickerman
The Flickermans are the entertaining hosts of the Hunger Games (and a silly comedy relief, especially in Songbirds and Snakes). Caesar will start training for his job in Sunrise and Kieran Culkin is rumored to play him. He's a natural at public speaking, so we can't wait to potentially see him in the role.
Effie Trinket
We all know and love Effie Trinket and her wild outfits and makeup from the original trilogy. We're excited to see her return for Sunrise on the Reaping and learn just how she became the eccentric gal she is. There have been claims that Elle Fanning was offered the role, which is pretty perfect casting if you ask us.
Plutarch Heavensbee
Philip Seymour Hoffman played the gamemaker of the Hunger Games in the original series. In Sunrise, we see the beginning of his career. Fans think his son, Cooper Hoffman, would be a great pick for the role because of their resemblance. But we've been seeing rumors that Jesse Plemons will be Plutarch.

Lenore Dove Baird
Haymitch's girlfriend, Lenore Dove Baird, is one of the first new characters in Sunrise on the Reaping. The nice thing about this role is that you don't have to match anyone's look. However, fan theories have suggested that Lenore Dove is a descendant of Lucy Gray (played by Rachel Zegler) and Maude Ivory (played by Vaughan Reilly) from The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes.
There haven't been any rumors about who will player her, but fans have suggested Lola Tung and Bailey Bass.
Maysilee Donner
Maysilee Donner is the biggest mystery for Sunrise on the Reaping. We have a general description of her, like that she has blonde hair and a twin, but not too many other details. We also haven't heard anything about her casting, but people on the internet hope to see McKenna Grace in the role.
