Tune In and Take Action With DoSomething.org and HALO Awards
For the first time, the Helping and Leading Others (HALO) Awards are teaming up with DoSomething.org to encourage young people to take on great causes with Tune In and Take Action!
Every year, the HALO Awards celebrate a group of incredible teens who've made important contributions to their communities through service initiatives. The telecast of the 6th annual HALO Awards will air on November 30 at 7pm on Nickelodeon.
The event is a launching point for the Tune In and Take Action campaign from both the HALO Awards DoSomething.org. Each of the honorees crafted their own Do Something campaigns which will be revealed during the show, and the initiative aims to mobilize young people to join in!
This year's honorees are five innovative teens from around the country.
Nicholas Lowinger is the founder of Gotta Have Sole, which donates new shoes to kids in homeless shelters. Cassandra Lin created Project TGIF, which turns cooking grease into biodiesel fuel to heat homes.
Alanna Wall created Polished Girlz, which hosts nail parties for girls with disabilities or frequent hospitalizations. Lulu Cerone founded LemonAID Warriors, training other young people to hold charity parties to raise money for important causes. Yash Gupta started Sight Learning, which collects used eyeglasses and gets up eye exams to students in need around the world.
Be sure to tune in not only to learn about the honorees and their causes, but also to catch performance by Jessie J, Meghan Trainor, The Vamps, Fifth Harmony and more!
If you don't have any Nickelodeon channels, you can even catch the stream online at nick.com!
