Ultimate Mentor Adventure Encourages Girls In STEM!

Marvel's Thor: The Dark World Ultimate Mentor Adventure seeks to empower teen girls to learn about STEM through an awesome program and trip to California.

In Thor: The Dark World, Natalie Portman plays the role of Jane Foster, an astrophysicist.

"The truth is I really do love science, and this role gave me the amazing opportunity to explore science and all its possibilities," Portman said.

Marvel is now "seeking the next Jane Foster" with it's Thor: The Dark World Ultimate Mentor Adventure program, which aims to empower girls 14 and up in grades 9-12 by sending them on an adventure that will allow them to explore science, technology, engineering, and math, or STEM!

According to their website, "Through the collaborative efforts of MARVEL, the National Academy of Sciences, and Underwriters Laboratories, Inc., girls will have a chance to go out into the real world and ask successful women in STEM fields about what they do, how they got where they are…and how others can follow in their footsteps."

Finalists will get to go to California to meet and interview amazing women in STEM and engage in experiments and interactive events. They also get the chance to go behind-the-scenes at Disneyland and Dolby Laboratories while their adventure is filmed!

The winners will also get to attend an opening day screening of Marvel's Thor: The Dark World at the El Capitan Theatre in Los Angeles. A documentary short of their own Ultimate Mentor Adventure will also be screened!

Applying for this awesome opportunity starts with you interviewing a successful woman in STEM from your hometown!

Entries must be submitted before 11:50pm PST on October 20, so be sure submit your entry before then.
