7 Unsung Heroes of Fast Food Breakfast
Once we find something we love at a fast food place, we rarely venture out to order anything else.
This is particularly true of breakfasts. We try not to mess with a good thing—but have you ever wondered if there's something even better on that menu that you've never even considered ordering? We have—which is why we've compiled a list of the biggest unsung heroes of fast food breakfast. After reading these descriptions, you might be tempted to try them for yourselves.
Carl's Jr./Hardee's Biscuit 'n' Gravy
Whether you call it Carl's Jr. or Hardee's, the fast food joint with the smiling star offers some really tasty biscuits. They're made from scratch and always taste super fresh and fluffy, and though you can get them in the form of a breakfast sandwich, we prefer them slathered in a creamy sausage gravy. Though the combo may sound strange to the uninitiated, it's a southern staple that's miraculously good in fast food form.
Chick-fil-A's Chicken Hash Brown Scramble Bowl
While Chick-n-Minis are still our favorite Chick-fil-A breakfast ever, this bowl comes close. It consists of a fluffy scrambled eggs layer topped with hash browns, chicken nugget pieces and melted cheese for a savory and filling breakfast experience. The hash browns and nuggets give it a wonderfully crunchy texture, and it also comes with a delightful jalapeño salsa, adding the perfect kick to this treat that allows you to feast on nuggets first thing in the morning.
Dunkin' Donuts' Turkey Sausage Egg & Cheese Wake-Up Wrap
If you want something a little lighter in the morning, you can't go wrong with Dunkin' Donuts' turkey sausage and cheese Wake-Up Wrap. It's made with a fluffy egg, topped with flavorful turkey sausage and cheese, wrapped up in a flour tortilla. And we definitely won't blame you if you order one of their tasty coffees or your favorite donut alongside it.
Jack in the Box's Country Scrambler Plate
This is technically on Jack in the Box's "Brunchfast" menu, but we still consider it breakfast! On top of coming with sausage links and crispy homestyle potatoes cooked with bits of onion and bell pepper, it's served alongside scrambled eggs with bacon, ham and cheese mixed in. It's the closest thing on this list to what you might grab at a breakfast buffet, and we're obsessed.
Sonic's Breakfast Toaster
Who doesn't love Texas toast? This breakfast sandwich's scrambled eggs, crispy bacon strips and cheese are layered between two toasty, buttery slices of extra thick bread. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, so we don't mind starting it off with something big to get that day rolling.
McDonald's Sausage McGriddles
The McDonald's breakfast menu is most famous for the Egg McMuffin, but we think McGriddles deserve to dethrone it. The buns of a McGriddles sandwich are actually fluffy hotcakes infused with maple syrupy goodness. While McGriddles come in many forms, we think the simplest—with a smoky, savory sausage patty nestled between the buns—is the best.
Taco Bell's Breakfast Crunchwrap
Everything is better in Crunchwrap form, and breakfast is no exception. This item takes a huge, round hash brown and tops it with bacon, egg and cheese (plus a creamy jalapeño sauce) before ingeniously folding it all up into one portable, hexagon-shaped package. The combination of textures and flavors really sells this one.
