Yellow Flicker Beat Is Lorde's First Mockingjay Offering!
In August, Lorde announced that she'd be the musical supervisor for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1! This week, we get to hear the first fruits of this labor with "Yellow Flicker Beat"!
"Yellow Flicker Beat" is the first track to be released off of the upcoming The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 soundtrack. If it's any indication of what else is yet to come, Hunger Games fans are in for a treat!
The new track is moody, dark and atmospheric. Sonically, it fits perfectly into the Hunger Games world. The lyrics tell Katniss's story of strength and rising above even the toughest obstacles.
This girl power film franchise deserves a soundtrack from a fierce young woman like Lorde! We can't wait to see what else comes from this musical teen from New Zealand!
"It's my first offering from what I hope will be a soundtrack you love," Lorde wrote about the new song on Tumblr. "It's my attempt at getting inside her head, Katniss'. I hope you like it."
Lorde also sang a cover of Tears for Fears' "Everybody Wants To Rule the World" on the soundtrack for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. Listen to it here!
