I’m an omnivore who’s willing to try pretty much anything. While I don’t have any dietary restrictions myself, I’m always fascinated when companies manage to make gluten-free and keto foods taste just as good as the classics.

Real Phat Foods is one brand that’s all about transforming foods we all know and love into junk-free treats that pretty much anyone can joy. When they reached out to see if I’d be interested in tasting their offerings, I was mostly interested in their sugar-free cookie dough. However, in the end I was delighted they gave me the chance to see what other unique goodies they have in store.

The Products

Real Phat Foods is based around the premise that happiness starts with nutrition. They aim to make real, junk-free food that’s great-tasting and also good for you, so you can refuel and take on whatever life throws at you. All of their products are keto, paleo, gluten-free, grain-free, sugar-free and below three net carbs, while also avoiding additives and preservatives. They believe that clean eating and healthy lifestyles start with a diet of low carbs, moderate proteins and high-quality fats.

Their products include Phat Crackers, Phat Breads and Phat Bombs, each with a number of options to choose from. They send me one Phat Bread Pumpkin With Chocolate Chips ($6.25), one bag of Phat Original Crackers ($6.49) and one tub of Phat Cookie Dough ($9.99).

The Experience

Phat Bread Pumpkin With Chocolate Chips

The Phat Bread Pumpkin With Chocolate Chips was so tempting I simply had to dig into that first. As soon as I cut off one end of the loaf with a bread knife, I knew I was in for a treat. Just from that experience, I could tell it was super moist, yet not too dense or close-textured.

One bite told me my first impressions were right on the money. Despite being a grain-free loaf made with almond flour, the texture was just right, and the flavor was fabulous, too. It was packed with spices that made it taste like a yummy pumpkin pie, and the chocolate chips added a sweetness that helped bring out the flavor of the pumpkin spice, without any added sugar. Based on taste and texture, I’d have no idea it was gluten-free, or that the 7 oz. loaf was flavored with monk fruit. Each serving also included four grams of protein, plus a dose of Vitamin A, calcium and iron. If you want to give it a shot, you should act fast, because it’s a limited release from Real Phat Foods.

Phat Original Crackers

I don’t usually get super excited about crackers, so these were quite the surprise to me. On the surface, they appeared to be pretty standard crackers about the size and shape of a Wheat Thin, but when I bit in, I discovered they were much more than that. They had a nice snap, as well as a softness to them, and I was delighted to discover they had tons of mouth-watering garlic and rosemary flavor.

While these crackers would probably pair quite well with cheese, I didn’t get the chance to try that combination. I ate each and every one straight out of the 4.5 oz. bag, and the savory flavor kept me coming back until they disappeared. And even when I did, I didn’t feel too guilty about it, because there was less than one net carb per serving of about 14 almond flour crackers and they contained a nice helping of calcium, iron and potassium.

Phat Cookie Dough

The product I was most looking forward to was of course the Phat Cookie Dough, and it did not disappoint in the slightest. It’s formulated on the idea that higher-fat foods can actually be good for you so long as the fats are high-quality, containing one gram of net carbs, 10 grams of fat and zero sugar, because it’s sweetened with stevia and monk fruit.

When I ate my first small spoonful, I was happy to find that it wasn’t overly sweet like many other edible cookie doughs. The almond flour dough was smooth and the sweetness was light, complementing the unsweetened chocolate chips, which added a well-rounded richness to the flavor. It took me less than a tablespoon-sized serving to get my satisfying fill, though I bet others will want to want to wolf this stuff down. Good thing is, you don’t have to feel bad if you overindulge a bit because there are 100 calories per serving, plus two grams of protein, as well as calcium and iron. Best of all, this 8.5 oz. tub will probably last you a while.

Bottom Line

If you’re keto or gluten-free, I couldn’t recommend Real Phat Foods more. I found every one of their products absolutely delicious, despite not having those dietary restrictions myself, and I think anyone could fall in love with their great flavors and the company’s ethos.

Of course, I understand why some people would still be wary of high-fat foods like their cookie dough, and not everyone is trying to avoid gluten or sugars. If you’re not, it might not make sense for you to pay premium prices for these specialty foods. And if you have an almond allergy, you should stay clear away from every product on this list. But if any of these sounded good to you, I believe you’ll be pretty happy with the results if you do decide to place an order.
