If you’re a die-hard fan of The Office, we’re willing to bet you love to hate the one and only Dwight Schrute.

The assistant manager—or assistant to the manager—is one of our favorite characters of all time. From his ongoing love story with Angela to his rivalry with Jim and his beet farm, there is so much to unpack. So when we found out there was a cookbook dedicated to his character, we knew we needed to get our hands on it.

We were sent Beet This: An Unofficial Schrute Farms Cookbook ($15.95), and we’re obsessed! Keep scrolling to find out everything you need to know about the cookbook inspired by Dwight Schrute’s character in The Office.

First things first, if you’re not a fan of beets, we can’t promise you’ll enjoy the recipes in this cookbook. Sure, you can cut them out, but for a lot of the recipes, they’re the star ingredient. If you didn’t know, beets are actually very good for you, as they’re loaded with tons of iron, vitamin C, potassium, manganese, folate, protein, phosphorus and dietary fiber.

The cookbook itself is hilarious and gives off tons of nods to The Office. In fact, the introduction sounds like it was written by Dwight himself, as it says, “Fact: The beet is the most superior plant-based food ever discovered by man.” We seriously can’t think of a more Dwight-like comment than that.

Before you get to the recipes themselves, there are tips for growing your own beets, choosing the right type of beets and even caring for beets. So, by the time you get to the first recipe—a raw beet for breakfast—you should be ready to take on the whole cookbook.

Some of our favorite breakfast recipes from Beet This: An Unofficial Schrute Farms Cookbook, include beet biscuits with rabbit gravy and Aunt Gertrude’s beet gruel.

When it comes to the salads, there are five options, but our favorite has to be the Neopolitan salad. It’s simple, delicious and quick to whip up.

Out of all of the snacks and sides to choose from in the cookbook, our favorites are beet chips, butterbrezel and roasted beet greens.

There are also tons of soups and stews to choose from, and we think that the beet and beef stew would be a total hit for a dinner party or a big family gathering.

And onto the main event—the main dishes. The ones everyone needs to try are stewed shin of beef, fried peppers with pork chops and homemade bratwurst filling.

And for the one recipe, we would never, ever in a million years try? Spicy fried rattlesnake with pickled beets. Yep—three pounds of rattlesnake meat are required for this disgusting recipe.

Last but not least are the desserts. And while we’re not typically fans of veggies in sweets, some of these beet recipes actually don’t sound half bad. In fact, the moist chocolate-beet cake looks delicious. The chocolate and hot espresso will dilute most of the bitterness, and is a must-try.

All in all, if you’re a fan of The Office or know someone who loves the show, this is one book we think you need in your life. Whether it’s displayed on your coffee table or in the kitchen, you’re bound to get lots of laughs and use out of it.
