by Tayah Fox

A new girl group has swooped onto the K-pop scene to steal our hearts.

AtHeart—consisting of Michi, Arin, Katelyn, Bome, Seohyeon, Aurora (who is currently on hiatus due to health reasons) and Nahyun—is a fifth-generation frontrunner aiming to connect and grow with fans globally. With members hailing from South Korea, Japan, the Philippines and the U.S., the group already stands out with their diverse lineup, striking visuals and musical versatility in their debut EP, Plot Twist.

Released on Aug. 13, 2025, Plot Twist features five songs, including the pre-debut single "Good Girl (AtHeart)" and the title track "Plot Twist." Throughout this EP, the group showcases their sonic range, from the electronic-dance lead single to the Amapiano-inspired B-side "Push Back." With this strong break into the K-pop world, AtHeart has positioned themselves as a group to watch in 2026. Sweety High had the chance to chat with girls about their debut, rise in popularity and what the future holds in the interview below.

Sweety High: Could you introduce yourselves to those who aren't familiar with AtHeart? Who are you as a group and what do you represent?

Michi: AtHeart is a group that stands for love, passion and connection. "Heart" represents those emotions, and the "At" symbol shows how we want to stay connected with fans all around the world and share our hearts with them. AtHeart means being connected heart to heart with everyone who supports us

SH: What was your mentality while preparing for your debut? How did you girls maintain your morale?

Nahyun: While preparing for our debut, we believed in ourselves and worked hard with the mindset that we wanted to show everyone who we are as soon as possible. Each of us has different strengths and talents, and that has helped us support one another and grow together. I think that's how our teamwork naturally came to life.

SH: As a brand new group, what steps are you taking to stand out amongst the crowd of K-pop rookies?

Arin: We want to stand out through music and performances that people all around the world can connect with. Our first album, Plot Twist, shows honest and unexpected emotions that only we, as teenagers, can express. I hope that sincerity and raw energy become what make AtHeart special.

SH: It's only been two months since your debut. How have you adjusted to your sudden rise in popularity?

Katelyn: It still doesn't feel real yet, but we're so thankful for all the love and support we've received. Everything is still so new to us, but we're slowly getting used to it. We just want to keep improving and show even better sides of ourselves to everyone.

SH: Are there any unique skills that each member of the group brings to the table that strengthen your team?

Bome: Every member brings something special to the team. Some of us are great at keeping everyone motivated, some bring calm energy when things get busy, and others always make us laugh. Because we're all so different, we fill in each other's gaps and make AtHeart stronger together.

SH: You girls are a group of relatable teenagers sharing stories through your music. Are there any topics you'd like to cover in future releases?

Seohyeon: I want to sing about the feelings that people my age go through. Things like friendship, growing up, and all the little moments that make us who we are. I hope our future songs can show more of our real thoughts and emotions.

SH: Can you describe your current musical sound and other sounds you hope to try?

Michi: AtHeart's sound is full of emotions and unexpected twists, just like our name. Our first EP, Plot Twist, captures the many sides of being a teenager—sometimes confusing, sometimes exciting—with each song having its own color and mood. Right now, our music blends dreamy feelings with energetic pop and EDM, but in the future, we want to explore new sounds that can express even deeper emotions.

SH: As a global group, how do you plan to utilize your various cultural backgrounds in your music?

Katelyn: Our different cultural backgrounds really inspire our music. We learn so much from one another through language, style, and the way we express our feelings. That mix of cultures helps us create music that anyone can connect with, no matter where they're from. We want our diversity to be one of AtHeart's biggest strengths and to show that music can bring people together

SH: What does 2026 look like for AtHeart? Is there anything fans can look forward to?

Bome: In 2026, we want to come back with new music and show even more of what we can do. We also hope to perform on bigger global stages and keep growing through those experiences.

SH: Is there anything else you'd like to share with your fans?

Michi: We just want to say thank you to everyone who's been supporting us from the very beginning. Your love means everything to us and gives us so much strength. We'll keep working hard to make you proud, so please keep watching and growing with us!
