As of this writing, the next total lunar eclipse—when the moon moves completely into Earth's shadow—is set to occur overnight for a few hours on March 13 into March 14, 2025.
A lunar eclipse only occurs once or twice a year during certain full moons, but the total lunar eclipse is even rarer, usually only appearing every two to three years. Even more, the total eclipse creates a visual phenomenon known as the "blood moon," taking on the slightly spooky color of deep rust in the night's sky.
Astrologically, eclipses generally represent significant change and transformation, with the blood moon specifically bringing strong feelings and finely honed senses to the forefront.
