This Is My Brutally Honest Definitive Ranking of Fast Food Fries

It's National Fast Food Day, and although I'm not a fast food enthusiast, I do hit up the drive-thru for the occasional box of fries.

Over the years, I've developed a strong opinion about which popular chains serve up the best-tasting fries around, and finally, after much consideration, I've jotted down a ranking.

Scroll below to see how the competition stacks up through my eyes. Do you agree? ????

9. Burger King

What do I even have to say about these fries? Not much… although they're thick and they're salty, they're not my cup of tea. Each time I've had them they've been either cold or a bit soggy. I'm going to take a hard pass on these, sorry BK.

8. Jack in the Box

I've never been particularly impressed with Jack in the Box fries. They're run-of-the-mill, just lightly salted and made with "real potatoes," but what fries aren't these days?

7. Five Guys

Although these fries are by no means "bad," they just don't make me weep with happiness, as some customers claim they do. On the upside, they come in a large paper cup, so you're really getting more bang for your buck compared to your average-sized fry bag.

6.  Wendy's

I'm not going to lie to you and say that Wendy's has the crispiest, hottest and most delicious fries on the market (because they don't). While on their own they're a bit bland, they're mouth-wateringly good when dipped in Wendy's signature Frosty drink. If you haven't tried their fries this way, please run to the nearest Wendy's now and give it a go.

5. In-n-Out

This is by far the freshest tasting fry out of the bunch. I mean, you can see them peeling the fresh-from-the-farm potatoes through the drive-thru window. The main reason they don't make it higher on my ranking, is because they lack the desired crispiness I need for my fry to be top notch.

4. Arby's

I'm a sucker for curly fries, and oh my gosh, does Arby's serve up a delish version. These babies are fried to perfection and pair amazingly with just about every unique sauce that Arby's has to offer. I'm a huge fan of dipping these in honey mustard. Drooling just thinking about them.

3. Del Taco

Del Taco's crinkle-cut fries are no joke. The texture, the taste, everything about these is delectable. Oh, and that golden brown color? Perfection.

2. McDonald's

There's no denying that McDonald's is and probably always will be the fast food chain with the saltiest fries around. Seeing as salt is such an important factor in the fries taste test, these Mickey D's golden potatoes rank as number two. I'm a fan of dipping them in their chocolate milkshake for the ultimate mix of sweet and salty. It's even tastier than the Frosty/fries combo from Wendy's.

1. Chick-fil-A

And finally, we've made it to the end. We've made it to the only fast food fry that I really, truly crave on a regular basis. The Chick-fil-A waffle fries are everything you could ask for in a deep-fried potato. Pretty much every fast food place guarantees that their fries are crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, but this is the only chain that actually delivers.
