At Sweety High, we’re fortunate enough to get invited to a lot of private events in beauty, fashion, food and entertainment. And who better to take behind the scenes with us than our readers? The Sweet Life gives you VIP access to some of our favorite celebrations, even if you weren’t on the list!
As we’ve noted before, there are a lot of things we can’t stand about summer.
From the bugs to the heat, summer is one season we could easily do without (well, unless we were still in school, that is. Summer vacation is pretty awesome). That said, the sunniest season is known for one majorly awesome thing, and that’s its endless parties. The beauty industry, in particular, definitely capitalizes on this time of year, and we were lucky enough to attend three totally over-the-top summer kickoff celebrations!
Keep reading to go behind-the-scenes of three beauty brands’ summer kickoff soirées:
What: Grande Cosmetics‘ Grande Summer Bash
Where: Private residence in Beverly Hills, California
Why: To kickoff summer and celebrate the launch of the brand-new GrandeLIPSTICK Plumping Lipsticks and GrandeDRAMA Mascara
Everything We Saw: When it comes to location, this party was hosted at the most ideal spot in town—a gigantic house in the hills, complete with a huge pool, backyard and seriously epic view. But that was just the tip of the iceberg. All throughout the outside and inside were little stands that gave partygoers a chance to try out pretty much all of Grande Cosmetics’ products, along with a slew of different self-tanning formulas by Fake Bake, and much more.
In addition to the tray-passed finger foods (you had me at chicken skewers!), beautiful backdrop perfect for taking photos and the live cover band that performed at the end of the night, I walked out with two giant gift bags packed with beauty tools and makeup products. This party was my first foray into Summer 2019, so if this was a representation of what’s the left to come, this could turn into one memorable season.
What: Valfré’s Electric Garden Party
Where: Pop-up in Los Angeles, California
Why: To celebrate summer, and the clothing and accessory line’s foray into makeup
Everything We Saw: Valfré, a trendy, edgy clothing and accessories line created by Mexican-born artist, Ilse Valfré, threw a colorful fete to celebrate the launch of its Electric Garden eyeshadow palette—its very first cosmetics product. Ilse was on hand to mingle and take photos with guests, while cute little makeup stations were set up all around the event space, where guests could try out the palette and walk away with one of their own. The photo booth was a favorite at the event, but the real highlight was seeing the bold, colorful outfits of the guests, and their vibrant makeup looks.
What: Summer Soirée with beGlammed
Where: Dream Hollywood Guest House in Hollywood, California
Why: To kick off summer and announce the merge of beGlammed and Priv on-the-go beauty services
Everything We Saw: Because the event was a celebration of the two biggest on-the-go beauty apps coming together as one, the party offered a sampling of what you can opt for when you place an order (for those who don’t know, beGlammed and Priv give anyone the opportunity to have beauty professionals come straight to your location to complete an array of beauty services).
Not only did the event take place in a suite inside the luxe Dream Hollywood hotel with a view that overlooked the entire city, but the event space was scattered with stations that offered beauty services. I had a birthday party later that night, so I absolutely needed to get my makeup done. Luckily, Ardell professionals were on hand to put on false eyelashes for me, and Sarah Lucero, Global Executive Director of Stila, gave me a full face of jaw-dropping makeup. The party offered a full meal (which is rare these days), along with complimentary, professional ear piercings (!), manicures by China Glaze and hair styling. Last but certainly not least, I walked out with a box filled to the brim with various beauty products.
