Jimmy Sotos Captures Coffee Shop Vibes With Debut Single ‘Kaffeestube (I’m So Tired)’
We've never heard a track that thematically captures the power of a strong cup of coffee as Jimmy Sotos' epic debut single, "Kaffeestube (I'm So Tired)."
Getting its name from the German word for "coffee shop," the song has a one-of-a-kind sound, integrating the ambient noise of a coffee shop before transitioning into a spoon-against-cup, mellow hip-hop infused beat. With a soulful voice repeating the phrase "I'm so tired, you're playing with my heart in love," it perfectly captures the yearning exhaustion of needing your morning cup of coffee. Then, suddenly the caffeine kicks it, resulting in a full-on, pulse-pounding rave sound—before slowing down yet again to a sluggish pace, reflecting the come-down of the coffee's effects wearing off, leaving you more tired than ever. It's brilliantly high-concept, as well as super listenable, and Jimmy shared its story with us below.
On the Meaning of 'Kaffeestube'
Jimmy Sotos: Kaffeestube means "coffee shop" in German. It's also the name of the coffee shop I grew up going to as a kid, where my love my coffee began.

On 'Kaffeestube's Sound
JS: I guess the "proper" genre of this song is Euro house or trance, but it's just my take on EDM. It starts as a simple hip-hop beat made from the sounds of a coffee shop before transitioning into rave music.

Coffee Shops and Rave Music
JS: In Amsterdam and other parts of Europe, there's kind of a link between coffee shops and the rave scene through psychedelia. so the music video will be my take on that as well🤞🏼
