Naomi Jane Reflects on Love, Loss and Betrayal in New Anthem, ‘Lightning’
Rising pop artist Naomi Jane has been on a roll with her beloved December 2024 EP sweet talk, featuring hits "TACOBELL" and "Like Like Love You," amassing almost 2 million streams. She also has some spectacular things on the horizon for 2025, beginning with her latest soaring single, "Lightning," which dropped last week.
The theatrical and vulnerable new track takes listeners on a journey, beginning with the gentle and heartfelt notes of a piano before building into an epic and orchestral chorus of bold string stings, soon joined by a pulsing dance beat. The sounds perfectly matches "Lightning"'s narrative as the passionate love song spirals into a tale of betrayal and a romance that's instantly vanished, quick as a flash of lightning.
"Lightning," written by powerhouse songwriters Kayla Diamond, Sofia Camara and Aviva Mongillo, showcases Naomi's natural ability to make a story her own, infusing it with honesty and drama at every turn to make it an instant earworm.

"The moment I heard 'Lightning,' I felt it in my bones," Naomi shared in a press release. "It was a fire I couldn't ignore. This song is electric—intense, exhilarating and completely consuming. I love that it was written by three fearless women in this industry that I admire beyond words. My queen, producer Kayla Diamond, brought this song to me, and from the first second, I knew—I had to make it mine."

The song comes to life further in its darkly cinematic music video, setting the scene with Naomi evading police spotlights before appearing in an interrogation room.
"I can't help you unless you tell me what happened," the officer tells Naomi before the song kicks off, highlighting what looks to be a sweet romance at the marina between Naomi and her beau before things sour between them. His sudden disappearance has mysterious undertones, especially as Naomi glows under red and blue police lights, and her final reaction to the night's events reveals the chilling plot twist.
