Noah Centineo loves that his fans love him, but there’s a limit to that love.

The To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before and Sierra Burgess Is a Loser star appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Sept. 21, and he opened up about a time some of his stans got too close for comfort. It’s a cautionary tale that all those who adore him from afar should keep in mind.

As Noah explained to Jimmy, he’d flown into New York’s JFK airport and was waiting at baggage claim, when a group of four people approached him. He greeted them, and he soon found out that they’d shown up at the airport just to see him. To make matters worse, they followed him as he headed out to the pick-up area.

And they didn’t stop there. Once Noah got in his car, the overzealous fans hopped in their own and followed him into the city. The actor’s driver was eventually able to lose them, but he didn’t enjoy the experience.

“It was actually scary,” Noah said. “It was the first time you look at something and you’re like, ‘Oh, wow, my life is changing.'”

Interestingly enough, Noah later had another run-in with the group at the airport, and he took the chance to let them know that he needed some boundaries. He says he told them he appreciated that they cared, but he delivered a stern message: “Just don’t follow me.” Presumably, that applies to all of us.

Watch for yourself below. His story starts around 2:49.
