Sara Niemietz From Broadway To Today!

Sara Niemietz is a 21-year-old singer, songwriter and actress whose musical background dates back to when she was just 4!Sara Niemietz

In a recent interview, Sara told us all about her life in the music business, the standout moments in her career, and what's next!

From the beginning, music was in Sara's blood.

"My parents introduced me to music!" Sara said. "My dad played in rock bands in Chicago and my mom sang in choir and can play accordion like nobody's business."

Sara attended concerts with her parents from a young age. She also sang often at local venues in and around her home state of Illinois.

When she was 7, the family relocated to California. There, Sara gained a lot of experience pursuing her passions of acting and music.

"Together we learned so much about the wacky and wonderful Los Angeles music scene," she said.

When Sara was just 10 she starred on Broadway in plays including Hollywood Arms and Pamela's First Musical. She described her experience of performing eight shows a week on Broadway as "invaluable."

"It was a master class in responsibility, acting, and hailing cabs. There were more 'life lessons' than I can count," she explained. "The cast and creative team were very welcoming and giving of their time."

Sara said that her time on Broadway introduced her to some of the most hard-working, creative, and kind people she's had the luck to know. She also started work in television and film.

That year, Sara was also invited to perform in front of more than 50,000 people at Times Square, where she performed "I'm Always Chasing Rainbows."

"It was an honor I'll never forget," she said.

She was just 11 when she recorded her first album, Live at the Cat Club.

"It was a blast!" she said.  "At that point, I'd been performing live for some time, so it was a very comfortable experience. We recorded one of my live shows at the Cat Club, which used to be on the Sunset Strip in Los Angeles."

Today, her musical style is a mixture of all of the styles and sounds that have influenced her music over her lifetime.

Her biggest musical influences include The Beatles, Cole Porter, Carole King, Tom Waits, Bill Evans, Celine Dion, Jaco Pastorius, Steely Dan, Ella Fitzgerald and more.

According to Sara, her recipe for style is, "A half-cup of jazz, a tablespoon of blues, and a focus on songwriting."

She hopes her music will be able to inspire listeners as much as she has been moved by the music of others.

"I hope my music will uplift and take people away from the day-to-day, if only for three minutes," she said. "I'd love to go on a musical journey and invite anyone listening to look at the world in a new way."

Sara believes that becoming a musician requires taking in the good with the bad and hanging in there.

"Ride the roller coaster! There are some wonderful high points, and there is also a fair share of rejection," she explained. "If music is what you love, you can't let the down times get to you."

For Sara, that means constantly making new music and taking in opportunities.

"It's always been important to me to get out there: gig, connect with fellow musicians, share my songs," she said. "You never know what one musical adventure can lead to."

Sara has written a number of new tracks that she's excited to share with her fans, and has a number of live gigs lined up. Click here for a list of upcoming performances!
