How Sydney Morgan Uses Her Makeup Skills and TikTok Fame to Champion a Great Cause
Sydney was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis at the age of 16. It's a painful, incurable and sometimes even embarrassing disease, and in Sydney's case, progressed to the point where she had to have her colon removed. It was difficult, but she found support online sharing her makeup talents, and before long amassed her incredible 6 million followers on TikTok.
Now, in addition to wowing people with her outrageous looks, she's also an advocate, spreading awareness for Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis so no one has to feel alone in dealing with them. She's an incredible person, and we got the chance to touch on her work and what it means to her in the interview below.
Sweety High: How long has makeup been a part of your life?
Sydney Morgan: Since the 8th grade.
SH: At what point did you decide to start sharing your wild looks on social media?
SM: I started Tiktok in July of 2020.
SH: What has it been like to make such a huge name for yourself on TikTok?
sM: It's been a really great experience! I love having a platform to not only share my creativity but also help others along the way.
SH: What do you think it is about TikTok that's allowed you to succeed in such an impactful way?
SM: They have the best opportunities for any person to go viral all it takes is one video. That's something you don't get from any other platform.
SH: Why is it so important to you to be able to use your platform to spread awareness about Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis?
SM: Because I want to be the voice I didn't have when I was going through it.
SH: What would you say is the key to living a fulfilling life, even in spite of your challenges?
SM: Do what makes you happy and don't worry about what other people think.
SH: Do you have a favorite makeup look to date? If so, what was it?
SM: The emoji challenge.
SH: Who's your biggest influence in the makeup world?
SM: I take inspiration from everything around me and I love creating looks based off of that.
