5 Methods to Achieve the Effortless Overnight, Heatless Curls
One of our many resolutions in 2025 is to take better care of our hair. For us, that starts with using less heat to create a pin-straight look and, even more often, beautiful curls and waves. We'll be the first to admit we probably went overboard last year.
While you can maintain your hair health when using heat tools, it's almost always better to try to find other ways to achieve the look without them. Thankfully, beauty gurus have discovered multiple twisting methods to achieve flawless curls overnight, simply using items you can find around in the house. Check out a few of the best below!
Curling Headband
Before we jump into the items you can find in your home, let us introduce you to the curling headband. With this product you can find from your favorite haircare brands, you twist your hair around the rod. Then, wear it at the crown of your head overnight. You'll wake up with big, uniform ringlets without ever having to apply heat.

Flexi Rods
Even before the curling headband was invented, women of the '80s and '90s often used flexi rods to perfect their curls with no heat. However, we will say this method takes more effort. Instead of wrapping all your hair around one band, you will split your tresses into sections to twist into smaller rods. Though it requires more work, you will achieve a much more natural and tighter curl.

The Sock Method
Chic curls are only one dresser drawer away. Grab a pair of chunky socks. Then, put your hair into a high pony, sandwiching the sock between your hair and the ponytail holder. After that, you'll twist your hair around the sock, and secure it by rolling your hair onto the inside of the sock.
It sounds complicated—and it is—but once you get the hang of it, you'll never pick up a curling wand again.
The Scrunchie Method
Thanks to the scrunchie craze of the late 2010s, almost every girl has a few of them in their bathrooms. In this method, you part your hair into two to four large sections, tying them up with a scrunchie. Once you've done that, twist the loose hair around the scrunchie until there's no more hanging. You can also add a small clip to secure them if needed.
Simple Braid
If you're a total lazy girl, all of these methods might sound like much more work than you'd like. You can still get overnight, heatless curls without all the other twisting methods by braiding your hair. It might not be curls, but it will still give your hair more body.
