5 Reasons Why Prom Is More Fun With Friends

Prom season is officially upon us. By now, you probably have most of your details finalized, including your dress, transportation and afterparty plans. Most importantly, you also know if you will attend with friends or a significant other.

In the United States, there is a huge stigma about going stag to prom. High school romance is supposed to be a formative part of your adolescence. However, it's simply untrue for many people. Don't feel shame about flying solo. Below, discover five reasons why it's better to spend it with your best friends.

Less Drama and Pressure

Unfortunately, high school relationships often go hand-in-hand with drama. Maybe, someone has a wandering eye for your partner. Or, you don't feel like your significant other is faithful to you. In a toxic or unstable relationship, prom may cause unnecessary tension. You want to impress your date and make them truly fall head over heels for you. Ultimately, it may make the whole event less fun.

With friends, there isn't any pressure to change who you are. They know and love you for your character. So, you can totally be your most authentic selves around them.

You Have a Bigger Group

If you are lucky, your date could be integrated into your circle of friends. However, that is rarely the case. To prevent less awkward interactions, you and your date may choose to spend prom alone. You don't have to feel like the third wheel in their group and vice versa.

Without a date, you can do everything with your friends, from renting a party bus to taking silly group pictures in the photo booth. The more the merrier!

They're More Likely to Be in Your Life for Longer

Here at Sweety High, we don't want to discourage you from high school romance. Though, statistically speaking, it is quite unlikely you will marry your sweetheart. During prom, you may not want to gamble having such a pivotal memory tied to an ex. Your friends, on the other side, will probably grow old with you.

No Stress From Disapproving Parents

Dating in high school is a big no-no in many households. As we mentioned earlier, it opens up a can of worms that can distract from your schoolwork and other priorities. As a result, your parents may not want you to go to prom with a date. When you go to prom with your besties, you don't have to listen to your parents nag about your significant other they disapprove of.

Exciting Night After Prom

Most people will agree that the afterparty is the most exciting part of prom. If you go with a date, you may skip the ragers and spend time with one another, or you'll be dragged to an event with their friends you don't want to go to. You and your closest friends probably bonded over your shared interests, making it super easy to find the perfect way to close the night.
