5 Questions You Should Be Prepared to Answer in Every Job Interview

Job interviews can be a very daunting experience, especially if you have been on the hunt for weeks, months or even years. That said, working is a performance in itself. You have to conduct yourself in a professional manner, and that starts with your interview.

Thankfully, interviewing is a skill. While some interviewers might throw curve ball questions, you can expect most recruiters to ask you the same few. Below, discover five most-asked questions you'll hear in an interview setting.

'Tell me about yourself.'

Thought not technically a question, no job interview will be complete without this statement. It's to help your hiring manager learn more about your experience. Don't feel pressured to walk them through your entire work history or life experience. However, you should pick the main points that are most relevant to the job description, so they can see a clear vision for you at the company.

Plus, this question can be a fun way to show your personality. At the end, don't be afraid to throw in a few things you do for leisure. After all, more personality can make you more coveted.

'What interested you in this company?'

Employers like to think everyone who works at the company is passionate about the cause. If you have an interest in their mission, you will be more likely to go the extra mile in your assignments. That said, we know most people apply for jobs because they need money, but the key to receiving the offer is having the right answers.

While you prepare for your interview, look into the company's history. Do they have a mission statement you could align with? Does their leadership model inspire you? Bonus points if you personally know someone who works at the company who you can mention looking up to.

'What is your biggest strength?

For example, it could have a hard skill that you've specialized in during your past jobs. This is the perfect opportunity to showcase your expertise. No matter what, make sure you can provide tangible examples of your strength in action.

'Tell us about a time you experienced a challenge. How did you work through it?'

Sometimes, things can get rough at work, and the company needs to know you can handle it. This can include missed deadlines, extra workload or general confusion about how to approach a project. If possible, try to mention an experience that may occur in this job. Then, clearly express the steps you took the resolve the issue.

'Do you have any questions for us?'

At the end of the conversation, your interviewer will often turn the meeting towards you. When they finally ask you this question, don't say you don't. Asking about the company culture or your hiring manager's experience shows you have interest in learning about the company. The more unique your question, the more you will shine.
